Swedish Institute Scholarships for the Western Balkans
The Swedish Institute (SI) offers highly qualified applicants from the Western Balkans a unique opportunity to pursue full-time master?s degree studies as well as PhD or postdoctoral research visits in Sweden.
SI invites future global leaders to develop professionally and academically, to experience Swedish society and culture, and to build a long-lasting relationship with Sweden and with each other.
The scholarships are available for candidates from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia (FYROM), Montenegro and Serbia.
Calls for applications - academic year 2017/2018
PhD students and postdoctoral researchers

are offered within the SI Scholarships for the Western Balkans.
The call for applicants wishing to stay 6, 9 or 12 months for guest PhD studies and research work in Sweden is open 1 November 2016 - 10 January 2017.
The scholarships are available for research within the field of social sciences with a special focus on democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
The programme will offer about 4 scholarships for visits starting in September 2017 or January 2018.

Master's level students
The scholarships for master's level studies are offered within the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS).
The next call for applicants who wish to study at one- or two-year master's programmes will be open 1 December 2016 - 16 January 2017.
The scholarships are offered for studies within all academic fields. A list of eligible master programmes will be available on our website on 1 December 2016 at the latest.
Priority will be given to applicants choosing study programmes with an emphasis on gender equality, sustainable development, democracy, human rights or poverty reduction.
